Reason
for leaving: After sabbatical leave as visiting fellow at Indiana University in
the USA at the end of 2006, I realised I needed to gain further international
experience and was offered a position to help develop a new programme in media
and cultural studies at Newcastle University, UK.

Responsibilities include:
Intially general news reporting, crime
reporting, municipal reporting, as well as sub-editing in the night office.
In 1996 moved to arts desk where I was
arts writer and books editor and editor of Boekewêreld, a national books
supplement of Media24.
Did freelance
reporting for weekly newspaper City Press,
several magazines (including Insig, De
Kat) and the online publication Litnet.
