Call For Institutional Research Proposals

“THE CITIZEN AND THE E-GOVERNMENT IN THE AMERICAS” the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) in collaboration with the Organization of American States (OAS), the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), and the Network of e-Government Leaders of Latin America and the Caribbean (GEALC) launch "The citizen and e-government in the Americas" Project. The objective of the project is to improve the processes of democratic governance in Latin America and the Caribbean through the establishment of a community that will generate empirical knowledge on e-Government through applied research that is directly connected with the needs and challenges of decision makers in order to support the processes of design, implementation or evaluation of strategies and policies for e-Government.

UNESCO contributes to the fifth Internet Governance Forum

The 5th meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will be held in Vilnius, Lithuania, from 14 to 17 September 2010. It will focus on the following issues: managing critical Internet resources, security, openness and privacy, access and diversity, Internet governance for development, taking stock of Internet governance and the way forward, and cloud computing.


Janis Karklins appointed Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information Sector


UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova today informed the members of UNESCO’s Executive Board of her choice of senior management team. Ms Bokova, whose mandate began on 15 November last year, said that she had chosen a “strong, competent, coherent and motivated team” to lead UNESCO.
